The Quick and Dirty Rundown on the Tagging System and Warning Policy of Rubyfruit Taste
In light of recent events, I interrupt Fic Time to give you...
(dun dun da daaaa!)
The Quick And Dirty Rundown of the Tagging System of Rubyfruit Taste!
(plus, the Warnings/Headers Policy)
Part I: The Brand-Spanking New Tagging System
Tags are done by character, by pairing, by genre, and when dealing with multi-chapter stories will be tagged by the title of the story, and oneshots that are connected to one another will be tagged as Connected Oneshots. When written in one of the larger universes, there will be a tag for that universe (ex: If I were to write in the Princess Academy Universe, it would be tagged as "Princessverse" as opposed to having it tagged as "Princess Academy", unless it is a chapter of the Princess Academy story).
Things are also tagged by the Kink or Fetish that is prominently featured in a given story. Those stories in which a kink is either not featured prominently or not featured, at all, will be tagged as (insert subject here) implied. For Your Convenience, here is the Shortlist of subjects that will be written about.
Things that are strictly Alternate Universe will get the AU tag, wheras most things will get the AC tag for Alternate Continuity, or AT for Alternate Timeline. Yes, I differentiate between the three.
Ratings are not in the tagging system, they're in the headers, which will be discussed in the next part.
Non-fanfiction entries will get the non-fanfiction tag, and entries such as this one will get the For
Reference or Announcements tag.
Part II: Warnings and Header Information
What typically makes up the Header Information is as follows:
The title
The author
The fandom (which will almost always be Kingdom Hearts)
The genre (or genres, if it's more than one)
The characters
The pairing or pairings (if any)
The rating
The Warmings (if any)
The disclaimer
and some Author's notes (if any)
Here, I'll be covering what does and does not get warnings. Things for which there are tags do not get warnings.
Things I typically warn for are rape, incest, sexual relations between an adult (someone at or over the age of twenty) and a child (someone under the age of fifteen, considering the fandom I'm writing in), graphic violence (especially if it's self-inflicted), character death (especially if it is a suicide) and child abuse (especially if it's explicitly described). Profanity level is typically warned for as well. Aside from profanity, any stories in which the subjects warned for are not explicit will have a note saying that a given subject is implied or Mentioned, rather than Explicit.
Spoilers are typically not warned for (but will be mentioned in the Author's Notes, nor will there be warnings for slash or het (as those will be covered by the tags).
Things such as infidelity, drug use, and things I don't think are worthy of putting in the Warning line of the header, are tagged, or at least put in the Author's Notes.
The subject of Erotic Hypnosis is a tricky one. Though some might consider it a form of non-con/dub-con, others consider it a kink or a fetish. I, personally, have an Erotic Hypnosis fetish, thus, it will be tagged as such, rather than put as a warning.
As always, if anyone needs any more information about a given fic, one is free to ask in this entry (which is sticky-noted and linked in my profile), or they can email me at StratacasterPixie@gmail.com
