A/N: Yeah...This is pretty goddamned awful. Oldfic is Old. New Quistis/Kairi fics will be coming down the tubes soon. And they might not suck as bad as this.
"Eyes are the window to the soul".
Quistis didn't believe it. Her eyes were "glacial blue", the color that, Rinoa once said, that the sky looks like in Winter, before the tears of the Goddess of Ice fell from the sky like frozen feathers. Rinoa was gone now, no small thanks to a demented puppetmaster.
It never snowed on this tranquil little group of islands. It was where sunny-spirited Kairi lived for such a long time.
Kairi is of the light. Or so Kairi believes. Kairi must believe this for herself and for the worlds. Something always felt wrong to her. Sora's embraces were abhorrent to her, and she got a little satisfaction from saying words with tiny barbs, meant to tell Sora, "Go away!"
Quistis knows Kairi very well. They were, in many ways, more alike than the younger girl would care to admit.
"Whether you accept it or not, you are, were, and always will be, a child of the darkness," Quistis said, "It may be difficult to accept, and I know it is, but the sooner you accept it, the sooner the pain will stop."
Kairi asked, "Won't I become an abandoned child like you, then?"
Quistis knew that Kairi didn't mean it that way, so she answered, "The path of Miss Darkness is a long, hard path to walk. If you want to walk that path, there are freedoms the likes of which you've never felt."
Kairi thought for a moment. Quistis seemed none the worse for it. In fact, she was much kinder than anyone she'd known who followed the way of the light. And after having lived with her for a number of months, Kairi knew Quistis better than most people should know their teachers.
Kairi smiled and said, "Since you are Miss Darkness, I can be your Little Miss Darkness!"
And so, this girl would become a sword of vengence. Quistis knew this, and Kairi seemed to know as well. Relena lays cold in her grave, and a feeling in the pit of her stomach let her know that Xehanort was alive somewhere, somehow.
While Kairi exorcised her demons, Quistis was looking for that one that took everything away.
Quistis and Kairi sat there on the roof of that tall building for a while.
The Children of Darkness would rule these worlds again, and Quistis and Kairi would be at the forefront, as Queen and Princess of Darkness.
